Rubbish, recycling and the ecoparque
Household rubbish goes in the street-side containers: grey/green for general waste, yellow for plastic and cans, blue for paper and cardboard, green igloo for glass. Many urbanisations also have brown organic bins. Don't leave bags beside a full container — fines apply; try the next street. Furniture, appliances, garden waste and building rubble go to the ecoparque (recycling centre); most municipalities have one, free for registered residents — bring your padrón or NIE. Some town halls also run a free bulky-item collection if you book: ask at the Ayuntamiento or check its website. Used cooking oil and batteries have dedicated containers at supermarkets and the ecoparque; never pour oil down the drain.
In Rojales / Ciudad Quesada
