Mobile phones and home internet
A Spanish SIM is cheap and worth getting early: prepaid SIMs are sold at phone shops and supermarkets — by law you must register with your passport or NIE. Monthly contracts need a Spanish bank account. Coverage from the main networks is good across the towns and most urbanisations. For home internet, fibre reaches most built-up areas including the urbanisations; where it doesn't, 4G/5G home routers are the usual fallback and need no installation. Contracts commonly carry a permanencia (12–24 month tie-in) with a penalty for leaving early — ask before signing, and keep proof of any cancellation. If you're only here part of the year, prepaid data SIMs or no-permanence internet deals avoid paying for empty months.
