Reporting a crime: making a denuncia
A denuncia is the official report that starts any police or insurance process — theft, burglary, fraud, a traffic incident. Smaller towns fall under the Guardia Civil and cities under the Policía Nacional; report at the nearest station, or for many non-urgent crimes by phone or online through the Guardia Civil / Policía Nacional e-denuncia services (online reports must usually be signed at a station within 72 hours). Bring your passport or NIE and any evidence — photos, receipts, serial numbers. Ask for an interpreter if you need one; you are entitled to understand what you sign. You will receive a stamped copy — insurers will ask for it. For emergencies in progress, always 112 first; the denuncia comes after.
In Rojales / Ciudad Quesada
